Text for 2 Page Spread

Text for 2 Page Spread

I've wrote out the text that I will put on my two page spread, Ive included albums and songs he's released to make it seem more authentic as well as included descriptions of what he's doing throughout the interview. I've tried to make the answers comical yet believable that it came from someone who's been on tour, i did this by reading multiple magazines and given similar type of answers without plagiarising anyones words or experiences.

Carlos “Aquila” Ricardo is one of the world’s biggest rock singers at the moment. But how much do we really know about his journey from simple bar singer on a Wednesday night to big time, stadium filler Carlos. We met up with him near Heathrow Airport before his world tour of his latest album “Straight Outta Mexico” to ask him a few questions about what it’s like to be the world’s biggest star.

What’s the smallest show you’ve ever played?
Well when I was just starting out I did a few bars back home with about 10-15 people, that was just when I was starting out though so I was trying my new material, seeing what worked, seeing what set to play. It’s those shows I remember the best because it’s when I really didn’t know what was going to happen with my music. Who knew I was going to be an incredibly successful superstar? Well I did, deep down but still.

Have you ever been in danger from a gig?
Oh yes, When I used to play my new stuff at festivals is when I got the most abuse, I understand that people wanted to hear the classics but we have a 2 hour set we have time to put in my new stuff. I remember at Reading Festival when I sang “I left my sombrero in Mexico” for the first time and I got a bottle of p**s to my face, I’ve had drunken idiots trying to swing at me when on stage, bricks thrown at me, to be fair it’s lucky I’m so good at dodging, but I wish I’d have dodged the p**s bottle *laughs at his own joke*

What’s your biggest fear when playing live?
Well I guess I’m always scared of forgetting the words, but I suppose that’s true for all artists, especially when people have paid £190 on a festival ticket to see me and I don’t get it spot on, I feel like I've let my fans down. I’m also scared of falling off stage when I do a powerful solo, I remember when I was doing the climax to “Nacho Lover Anymore” and I slipped and went head first into a fan, luckily for me the fan was fat and it was like cushioning *laughs* but yeah the last thing I want is a picture of me face down in the dirt looking like an idiot instead of on stage singing my hits.

How do you deal with Hecklers?
I usually just find who’s shouting and tell the audience whoever brings me a tuft of the guys hair they can come back stage and share a chalupa with me, that usually works, last time the guy ended up bald *laughs to himself* I’ve been in trouble for doing that before but if you think you’re going to lose hair if you interrupt me, you won’t interrupt me.

What’s the best show you’ve ever played?
I remember Taco Fest 2014 in Arizona where I headlined and every single person in the audience was eating tacos and there were cold beers for when I got thirsty and the food was amazing. when my gig started everyone went crazy, but it wasn’t the kind of crazy where people got hurt everyone was just having a good time and then I played “Over The Border” and people went insane there were taco crubs everywhere It was insane. It really set the standard for the best day of my life, when I got married I remember looking at my wife at the end of the isle and thinking “Not as good as Taco Fest 2014”

What do you enjoy most about playing live?
The pay check (laughs at own joke) No I’m joking of course, I think the best thing Is I get to see the fans I inspire so much and how much my music means to them. I remember finishing “Burrito passion” in Birmingham and looking at a girl in the front row crying her eyes out and it wasn’t till then that I realised how amazing I am and how much I inspire people, I really am an amazing person. I tell my wife everyday that I love myself more than I love her. It might sound horrible but when you're as amazing as I am its hard to find someone I love more than myself.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists?

I guess the only advice I could give is to never give up. I know it sounds like a cliché, but my first album  “Mexico in the Snow” totally tanked, I sold about 7 copies outside Sainsbury’s and 3 of those copies were thrown back at me. If I had given up when I had my album lodged into my head then I wouldn’t ever have gotten to the top of the charts or be going on world tours. Or be going on cruises with my "meh" wife working on my tan and sipping martinis. It really is a wonderful (pauses to take a fart) life.

Peer and Teacher Marking

Peer and Teacher Marking

My work was peer marked by George Hardy, he said that to improve i need to show more organisation of my props, actors, locations, and props. To act on this i am going to get a picture of all the props and costumes i used on my photo-shoot to analyse and show more organisation. I should also organise the locations to show where i did my pictures to make them appear like they were taken in more impressive locations. My teacher marking said that i need to use a greater variety of digital ICT and proof reading to improve my grade, to work on this i will go back and proof read my work and add more detail and correct any mistakes i did not originally notice. I also need to go back and reference any websites i used in my work otherwise it's plagiarism, i have not copied any text from any websites on blog however i will include the websites i got the information off to make my work more professional. I need to state how my work is relevant to my final outcome and to check what I've done so far off the checklist so i know where I'm at and i can audit my work more.

Contents Page Designs

Contents page Designs
I've experimented with various looks for my contents page, i tried making my model more colourful and vibrant by increasing the vibrance in Photoshop to make him stand out more. I then selected my model and decided to make him black and white by taking the saturation out but kept the background colourful to show a contrast and it would also be a more unusual and interesting change to standard images found on indie rock magazines. I then made another version with the shirt colourful while his body wasn't to also show a contrast and it makes it more interesting and shows a higher range of skill on Photoshop.

Photos from Photo-shoot

Photos from Photo-shoot
These are the photos i have taken of my model, Lewis Holt, for my magazine cover, contents page, and 2 page spread. I have tried to use a range of shots in various places, with various poses being done by my model. I used a costume change so that the images weren't all similar and showed my model doing various things.

This shot is of Lewis Holt (my model) on stage at one of his concerts, its a mid-long shot, cutting off his legs but you can clearly see he's on his knees singing a powerful chorus. The stage lighting I think compliments the image as it's simple enough to not draw focus from Lewis however interesting enough to make it look believable that he's on stage.

This shot is of Lewis singing a powerful verse on stage, its a mid-long shot, it's slightly out of focus because he was moving when I took the picture, you can see his arms are blurred as he was singing a song and moving while the picture was taken however I believe this makes the image seem more authentic.

This is a mid shot of Lewis on stage. The background isn't very well captured, if I use this image in my magazine I will probably edit the background out as you can see the creases in the fabric which makes it look cheap and tacky.

This is a shot I think I will use on my front cover. In my plan I said I would use a standard mid shot of my model looking at the camera. However, once I took the shot I thought it looked too boring and I wanted something more interesting which Is why I gave him a microphone and took a picture of him doing something more quirky. It also makes my model look more fun and light-hearted which is the type of vibe I want him to give off because my magazine isn't going to be hard-core, serious heavy metal it'll be light hearted indie rock. I quite like the background also even though it's only a brick wall its simple. I will experiment with taking the background out the image and seeing what it will look like.

This is the standard mid shot I was planning to use on my magazine. Even though I believe it's a good shot and he looks good in the picture, there's nothing happening in the image, its quite boring. Because of this I chose the other image because I think it would advertise my front cover more than this one would.

Organisation of Photoshoot

Organisation of Photo shoot
This is a screenshot of me messaging Lewis Holt, who will be my model for my magazine, to see if he is available for the 11th of January. I asked him to bring the correct clothing for my front cover but just in case I will bring an outfit he can wear as a back up. As it shows, he accepted to be my model for the day. When he comes I will also provide another change of clothing to get a wider range of shots.

Results of Colour choice tally

Results of Color Choice Tally
The results from my tally shows that black was the most popular choice. It was chosen 8 times. Blue and Red were the second most popular. Because black is such a blunt color it can sometimes be seen as dull, also, because my magazine is an indie-rock magazine i think some color would make it seem alot more intresting

Colour of Text Tally Chart

Colour of Text Tally Chart
This tally chart is to decide which colour would be best suited for my magazine cover. The colour which is chosen will then decide what colour the theme of my magazine will be. The colour they choose will not be the definite shade I am using, it's just a general colour which will be for the magazine, for example if the results choose blue, then I may use a darker or lighter blue on my actual magazine. It's to give me an idea of the preferred colour. I wrote on the sheet that it was an indie/rock magazine so that people would pick the colours that would most suit that particular genre.

Questions for 2 Page Spread

Questions for 2 Page Spread

These are a few questions i will use for my 2 page spread, they're sensible questions i have seen used in various music magazines and they're worded in a way that doesn't leave my interviewer much chance to give one word answers, it'll give me the biggest answers so i have an interesting read for each question.
